Song of Adoration

I Greet Thee Who My Sure Redeemer Art

I greet Thee, who my sure Redeemer art,
My only Trust and Savior of my heart,
Who pain didst undergo for my poor sake;
I pray Thee, from our hearts all cares to take.

Thou art the King of mercy and of grace,
Reigning omnipotent in every place;
So come, O King, and our whole being sway;
Shine on us with the light of Thy pure day.

Thou art the life by which alone we live
And all our substance and our strength receive;
Sustain us by Thy faith and by Thy power,
And give us strength in every trying hour.

Our hope is in no other save in Thee;
Our faith is built upon Thy promise free;
Lord, give us peace and make us calm and sure,
That in Thy strength we evermore endure.

Prayer of Confession

LEADER: Brothers and Sisters, as we greet the the Savior, let us confess our sins together saying….

ALL: Our Lord Jesus, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Set us free from a past that we cannot change, open to us a future in which we can be changed, and grant us grace to grow more and more in Your image and likeness. In Your holy gracious name we pray. Amen.

(confess in silence)

Song of Confession

Jesus, What A Friend For Sinners

Jesus! What a friend for sinners!
Jesus! Lover of my soul;
Friends may fail me, foes assail me,
He, my Savior, makes me whole.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Hallelujah! What a friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.

Jesus! What a strength in weakness!
Let me hide myself in Him.
Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,
He, my strength, my victory wins.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Hallelujah! What a friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.

Jesus! What a help in sorrow!
While the billows o’er me roll,
Even when my heart is breaking,
He, my comfort, helps my soul.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Hallelujah! What a friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.

Jesus! I do now receive Him,
More than all in Him I find.
He hath granted me forgiveness,
I am His, and He is mine.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Hallelujah! What a friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.

Confession of Forgiveness and Faith

(from St. Ignatius of Antioch, 107AD)

LEADER: Brothers and Sisters, if we confess our sins Christ our Savior is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Therefore, as a called and ordained servant of his holy Church, I declare to you the entire forgiveness of all of our sins. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

ALL: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven and made righteous. Thanks be to God!

LEADER: Friends, let us confess our faith together saying….

ALL: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended to the dead; on the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven, and He is seated at the right hand of the Father; He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy *catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

*The word catholic means “universal” or “for all people” (not the Roman Catholic Church).

Sermon

For God So Loved The World. John 3:14-21.
Preacher: Rev. Dr. Scotty J. Williams

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life.

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. 18 Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because they do not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest their works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their works have been carried out in God.”

Song of Thanksgiving

O The Deep, Deep Love Of Jesus

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean
In its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me,
Is the current of Thy love
Leading onward, leading homeward
To Thy glorious rest above!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Spread His praise from shore to shore!
How He loveth, ever loveth,
Changeth never, nevermore!
How He watches o’er His loved ones,
Died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth,
Watcheth o’er them from the throne!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Love of every love the best!
’Tis an ocean vast of blessing,
’Tis a haven sweet of rest!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
’Tis a heaven of heavens to me;
And it lifts me up to glory,
For it lifts me up to Thee!

Closing Prayer and Benediction

with the Lord's Prayer and Benediction

LEADER: O Lord Jesus, we thank You for this time of celebrating Your love; Your love which shows the heart of God and saved the world from sin and death. Immerse us deep within Your commitment to well-being of all things, and grow us in this commitment as we pray the prayer that You taught us saying….

ALL: Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, Forever and ever. Amen.

LEADER: Receive this blessing….May God the Father (Who made the waves to run, the air to flow, the earth to still and stars to shine) give you the deep peace of God the Son. Jesus Christ, the Light of the world, Who lives and reigns in all of us through the God the Holy Spirit.

ALL: Amen!

LEADER: Go in grace! Go in peace! You belong to Jesus!
