«Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.»

Psalm 82:4

God uses rescued people to rescue people.

– Christine Caine

St. Francis of Assisi once prayed, “Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace” or “Lord, work through me that others might know Your helping hands”. As Christians we are called to be instruments of the Lord peace to others, and through us they will know His helping hand which brings rescues from all trouble.

Look at the picture of helping hands above and for three or four minutes think about how God works through us for the sake of others, then pray this prayer from St. Francis:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
